CS Energy was established in 1997 under the Government Owned Corporations Act 1993 (Qld). At the time, our portfolio included the Callide and Swanbank power stations, and soon after we acquired Mica Creek Power Station at Mt Isa.
We added to our portfolio in the early 2000s, constructing some of Queensland’s major power stations, including the supercritical Kogan Creek and Callide C sites, and the gas-fired Swanbank E.
Over the past 25 years the way energy is delivered has changed. So have we.
Our people have a thirst for innovation, and together we’ve delivered our share of industry firsts.
We built Callide C, the first supercritical power station in Australia.
The construction of Kogan Creek Power Station from 2005 - 2007 set new benchmarks for scale and scope, and is the largest single generating unit in Australia.
And from 2012 to 2015 we were part of the ground-breaking Callide Oxyfuel Project, which was a world-first collaboration that successfully demonstrated carbon capture technology.
As the energy market shifts to a new generation mix we’re finding new ways of working outside of our physical assets.
In 2017 CS Energy embarked on an exciting new way to do business, entering into a 50/50 joint venture with retailer Alinta Energy. Alinta was the first retailer in Queensland to offer new customers a 28 percent discount, successfully pushing power prices down for people and business.
More recently, we have invested in renewable energy offtakes, large-scale batteries and the emerging hydrogen industry. We are also an energy retailer to large commercial and industrial organisations.
CS Energy will continue to push the boundaries of innovation and explore new partnerships as we deliver energy today, and power your tomorrow.
