Solar energy
CS Energy has offtake agreements in place with three large-scale solar projects in regional Queensland.
Columboola Solar Farm
CS Energy has a Power Purchase Agreement for 100 per cent of the output of the Columboola Solar Farm, a 162 MW facility near Miles which achieved full operations in 2023.
We are on-selling this renewable energy to our customers QUT, Griffith University and CQUniversity.
QUT Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Sheil said the solar farm would give QUT a pathway to achieve full carbon neutrality on total electricity consumption.
“The commencement of operations at the new solar farm at Columboola is an exciting time for QUT because not only does this farm now produce energy needed by our campuses, it demonstrates QUT’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint,” Professor Sheil said.
Griffith University Chief Operating Officer Peter Bryant said all five of their campuses will use power from Columboola Solar Farm, which will provide 50 per cent of the university’s energy needs.
Moura Solar Farm
The Moura Solar Farm is an 82 megawatt facility owned by MYTILINEOS and located approximately 12 km east of Moura in Central Queensland.
CS Energy has an offtake for 70 per cent of the renewable generation produced at the solar farm, which we are onselling to our Queensland Government Procurement (QGP) customers.
Renewable energy from the Moura Solar Farm is helping to power large Queensland Government sites such as hospitals, police stations and emergency services.
CS Energy is proud to support the decarbonisation of our customers through our ability to offer renewable energy firmed with generation from our thermal generation assets.
Moura Solar Farm began operating in 2023 and can generate enough electricity to power approximately 40,000 Australian homes. The solar farm has 185,000 solar modules mounted on a single axis tracking system.
Hughenden solar farm
CS Energy has a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with BayWa r.e. Australia for a portion of the electricity and Large Generation Certificates (LGCs) from its Hughenden Solar Farm.
The 20 megawatt Hughenden Solar Farm is located on the outskirts of Hughenden in North West Queensland and has been operational since 2018. The solar farm comprises more than 60,000 solar panels over 34 hectares.
