The Palaszczuk Government today announced a number of board appointments for the State’s Government-owned businesses.
Deputy Premier Jackie Trad said the new appointments and reappointments are highly experienced professionals who bring a range of leadership skills to government from financial and budgetary expertise to strategy development and implementation.
“I congratulate new and returning board members on their appointments,” Ms Trad said.
“This group of appointments has a diverse mix of experience and new blood who I know will work diligently in the interests of Queenslanders.
“We have also committed that 50 per cent of all new board appointees on Queensland Government bodies will be women and we are pleased to have again exceeded this target, with six of nine new appointments being women.
“Under our ongoing Queensland Women’s Strategy, we also encourage the private sector and community organisations to create greater opportunities for women in our workplaces, particularly in leadership roles.”
Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey congratulated the new appointees.
“I look forward to working with all board members. I also want to sincerely thank outgoing board members for their service,” Mr Bailey said.
“Their knowledge and experience has helped contribute to our growing economy, our efforts to create jobs and to deliver vital services to Queenslanders.”
Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy Dr Anthony Lynham said the mix of new and existing appointees would continue to provide the strong leadership needed to keep organisations operating efficiently and effectively.
“Our Government-owned businesses do invaluable work and are critical to our economy,” he said.
“Through keeping our assets in public hands we have been able to deliver directly for Queenslanders through our work in the areas of energy, water, transport and funds management.”
