CS Energy’s Kogan Creek Power Station welcomed four new apprentices and trainees recently and is equipping them with the skills to succeed in Australia’s energy industry.
The apprentices and trainees are a mix of Western Downs locals and people who have moved to the region to gain experience in the industry.
Chinchilla local Maddy Volker started a two-year Business Administration Traineeship with CS Energy last week as the first step in pursuing a business career.
“Working at Kogan Creek Power Station offered me a sense of adventure and a future in an industry that I am passionate about,” Maddy said.
“Chinchilla has been my home for so many years, there’s no place like it. It’s a growing town and I feel like I’m growing up with it.”
Apprentice Mechanical Fitter Will Huth moved his family to Chinchilla to work at Kogan Creek Power Station two years ago, beginning as a Utility Worker and then successfully applying for an adult apprenticeship this year.
“My goal was to be able to work for a company that allows me to grow and gain new skills,” Will said.
“CS Energy has supported me in this process and Chinchilla has been a great move for my whole family.”
Rounding out the four new recruits are Business Administration Trainee Ashleigh Melcer and Mechanical Apprentice Arryn Bills, bringing to seven the total number of apprentices and trainees working at the power station.
Kogan Creek Site General Manager Phil Matha said CS Energy employed apprentices and trainees at all four of its sites “as part of our commitment to developing the next generation of the energy industry”.
