Twenty-four year 12 students from Biloela High School completed a rigorous defensive driving course this month under the JBOYS programme, with the support of CS Energy’s Callide Power Station.
On Monday, 29 May representatives from CS Energy’s Callide Power Station presented the students with certificates, following the completion of their JBOYS defensive driving course earlier in May.
JBOYS, or Jimmy Bryant’s Outback Youth Support, is a local not-for-profit organisation which helps educate young people on safe driving and provides support and welfare services to youth in rural Australian communities.
The students attended a two-day student driver course at Roadcraft Driver Education in Gympie.
The Roadcraft Driver Education teaches student drivers practical techniques, including how to drive defensively in wet and dry road conditions, how to avoid hazardous situations, and how human limitations can be a killer.
The students are the first group to go through the program in 2017. JBOYS plans to provide the training for the remainder of the Year 12 students later this year.
