Fourteen community groups in the Banana Shire and Western Downs Region Council areas are sharing in more than $76,000 in funding from the latest round of CS Energy’s Community Sponsorships Program.
CS Energy offers two sponsorship rounds per year to community groups and not-for-profit organisations located in the regions that host its operations.
CEO Andrew Bills said CS Energy was proud to support a variety of projects and events that will deliver lasting benefits to communities.
“We had a record number of applications this round, which was fantastic to see,” Mr Bills said. “We are very pleased to be part of projects that will make a real difference for our power station communities.
“In this latest round we were able to support much needed upgrades and equipment for schools, sporting clubs, and cultural groups, and events that build on the culture and community spirit in Biloela and the Western Downs.”
Cathie Briner, Head of Science at Biloela State School said CS Energy’s sponsorship for science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics (STEAM) would make a difference for her students.
“The sponsorship means students at Biloela State High School are able to engage in modern STEAM learning activities and experience enhanced learning outcomes,” she said.
Students and staff at Biloela State High School: William Allen, 13, Jodie Abell (Executive Assistant), Bridie Thomas, 14, Lilly-May Abell, 15, Zach Humphries, 17, Cassie Thomas (teacher), Mac Moretti, 15, and Cathie Briner (HOD Science).
Not-for-profit groups local to CS Energy’s power stations in Biloela and Chinchilla are encouraged to apply for the next round of funding, which will open in September 2022.
