A four-hour mow-a-thon and a competition to grow the best ‘mo’ are some of the ways CS Energy employees at the Callide Power Station have banded together to support Movember.
Since 2003 the Movember Foundation has been changing the face of men’s health, leading conversations about prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.
In an industry that predominately features male employees, raising awareness about men’s health, and helping men live happier, healthier, longer lives is particularly important.
This year the CS Energy ‘Mow-tivators’ team of Brett Smith, Kurt Hodgson, Dina Naumann and Leesa Hodgson joined the Callie Valley Mower Service Mow-a-thon on 17 November. The fundraising event saw the team take turns pushing a lawn mower around a designated course at the Biloela Showgrounds for four hours.
Through donations, a bake sale and a raffle, the team have well and truly surpassed their initial goal to raise $500 for this event, with their tally sitting at $4,100 - the highest fundraisers in the event.
Fellow employee Aydon Fisher helped give the team a fundraising boost with his pledge to shave his mo off if the Mow-tivators team reached over $2,000 in fundraising.
