One of the largest replacement components for Unit C4 at Callide Power Station will be transferred from the Port of Gladstone to the power station from tonight (12 December) to minimise impact to traffic.
CS Energy and its Callide C Joint Venture partner Intergen Australia have engaged heavy haulage specialists Lampson to carry out the road transfer and have been working closely with the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), Rockhampton Regional Council and Gladstone Regional Council.
The 262-tonne generator transformer will be transported in a 116-metre-long convoy, consisting of four prime movers and a beam set carrying the load with its weight distributed across two trailers.
The generator transformer will follow a route that has been carefully planned and approved by TMR to ensure the safety of road users and support the logistics of transporting such a large load.
It will travel at night under police escort for the entirety of its journey to the power station, which is located near Biloela.
Meanwhile, a team of 250 employees and contractors is working on the Unit C4 recovery at the power station and preparing for the arrival of the generator transformer.
Unit C4 is being reinstated following the incident in May 2021. Returning Unit C4 to service is a unique and complex project, and the current forecast return to service date is April 2023.
TMR is coordinating traffic management for the road transfer. For up-to-date information on road conditions visit www.qldtraffic.com or call 13 19 40.
